This is a high quality wireless speaker system capable of delivering 80 watts of output. It is attractive, compact and versatile and it delivers terrific sound quality. The wireless link is 2.4 GHz and it offers static free transmission through walls and ceilings up to 100 feet. The dock is compatible with the vast majority of iPods and it also sports an FM tuner and an auxiliary port for other MP3 players or devices. You can control any connected device using the remote control and iPods will also charge while they are docked.

This system can also be expanded. Individual speakers have a left and right mode so you can split into two channels and use two speakers. You can also add additional speakers in other rooms and the system will support up to seven separate speakers. You can also get an optional wall bracket and fit them to the wall or they sit easily on a shelf or table. The two way design with dual 4 inch speakers and 1 inch tweeters delivers excellent sound. You can get this system for under $300.

It’s a generally accepted belief that a 5 or 7 dedicated channel surround system is pretty much always the better choice over a sound bar, but there are times when it’s just not feasible. Whether your space is limited, or you don’t want to deal with wiring speakers all over the place, there is absolutely a market for good quality sound bars. Vizio’s latest sound bar product (model VSB210WS) has the added bonus of a wireless subwoofer. A subwoofer is always good to have, and the fact that it’s a wireless subwoofer makes it even more appealing to those looking for ease of setup and flexibility of positioning within their room.

The Vizio sound bar with wireless subwoofer is a smart-looking system. It will blend in with many types of decor and if you have a Vizio TV, then it’s sure to blend in well. The sound bar has a mesh front over with a brushed metal Vizio badge right in the middle. The rest of the housing is high gloss black plastic with “chrome” edging. On the bottom of the sound bar housing are some metal brckets that double as a stand or wall mounts. This same motif is applied to the subwoofer as well (mesh front cover, high gloss black cabinet).

While the surround effect is not amazing and the TruVolume audio output leveling system will limit all audio (not just the commericals), there’s definitely something to be said for a sound bar with wireless subwoofer for the price at which you can get the Vizio VSB21oWS. The sound bar is still a significant improvement over the built-in speakers and a wireless subwoofer is really pretty awesome. The wireless actually works very well – there was no noticeable delay of any kind and it worked out of the box. I do wish the subwoofer was a bit more powerful and had a bit more frequency range on the lower end. The LED indicator/status array was a bit wonky, but it’s definitely something that’s possible to get used to. Major kudos to Vizio for making this system so simple to setup and use.

The newest Bose speaker uses an RF USB dongle. I thought it would use Wi-Fi.
It transmits through walls and floors and has a rechargable battery that lasts 3 hours.

This can be used for your desktop computer, but, it seems like something most of us owns in one form or another. You decide.

The $550 speaker can transmit through rooms and walls (obviously), comes with a 3.5mm auxiliary jack and has a rechargable battery that lasts 3 hours. While the sound quality of this thing will more than likely be excellent, a USB dongle seems a bit janky (though I’m sure their filthy rich, technophile audience will love it). Will Bose wait until the fall to unveil the Bose Soundlink II? Let’s wait and see.

Logitech announced a significant extension to its line of multimedia speakers, delivering four new systems with 360-Degree Sound – including the Logitech® Speaker System Z320, Logitech® Speaker System Z323, Logitech® Speaker System Z520 and the Logitech® Speaker System Z523. Whether you’re at work using a desktop computer, at home using a laptop, whether you use a Windows®-based or a Mac®, computer, all four of Logitech’s new speakers just work – and sound great.

Unlike standard PC speakers that use forward-firing drivers, the four new Logitech multimedia speaker systems feature 360-Degree Sound, or omnidirectional acoustics, which creates a substantially wider sweet spot – an especially helpful feature if you often move your computer around your home or office. With speaker drivers that face forward and backwards in each satellite, these four new speakers are designed to transmit sound more consistently over a wider range of space so you never miss a beat no matter where you are in the room.

“Many PC speakers focus sound in one direction, which is fine if you’re always sitting in the same spot,” said Mark Schneider, vice president and general manager of Logitech’s audio business unit. “But now with 360-Degree Sound, whether you’re listening to your favorite song on iTunes®, watching a video on YouTube™ or playing your favorite game, you can enjoy rich, sound and minimal distortion throughout your room.”

2.1 Speakers Systems: Logitech Speaker System Z523 and Logitech Speaker System Z323

You can transport yourself into your music, movies and games with the Logitech Speaker System Z523. The Z523 speaker system includes two sleek satellites and a 6.5-inch down-firing subwoofer, which delivers deep lows for rich bass you can feel. With 40 watts (RMS) of power, the Z523 system can fill your room with bold, dynamic sound. And in case the neighbors call to complain about the noise, the Z523 system offers convenient on-speaker controls so you can quickly turn down the volume.

If you don’t need the walls to shake but still want good bass, the Logitech Speaker System Z323 is for you. With 30 watts (RMS) of power and a ported, down-firing subwoofer, you’ll have everything you need to create big, bold sound that puts you in the moment.

For your convenience, both the Logitech Z523 and Z323 multimedia speakers include an integrated dual RCA jack and a 3.5 mm jack so you can connect headphones, your Logitech® Squeezebox™ network music player, a gaming console, DVD player or iPod® with ease.

Stereo Speakers: Logitech Speaker System Z520 and Logitech Speaker System Z320

Whether you’re working or rocking out, Logitech’s new stereo multimedia speakers – the Logitech Speaker System Z520 and the Logitech Speaker System Z320 – are stylish and can fill a room with sound when you don’t want to make space for a subwoofer.

The Logitech Speaker System Z520 brings your music, movies and games to life thanks to an amplified two-way design and 26 watts (RMS) of power. The Z520 speakers are loud enough for a small party and detailed enough for subtle tones.

Ideal for laptops, the Logitech Speaker System Z320 can be plugged in wherever you work – and fill your office, or cubicle, with 10 watts (RMS) of sound. When you want to enjoy tunes from your iPod or listen to your headphones privately, simply plug them into the auxiliary jack – you won’t even need to unplug the Z520 or Z320 speaker systems.

Pricing and Availability

The Logitech Speaker System Z320 and Logitech Speaker System Z323 are expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe for a suggested retail price of $69.99 (U.S.) in August and September respectively. The Logitech Speaker System Z523 is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in July for a suggested retail price of $99.99 (U.S.). The Logitech Speaker System Z520 is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in July for a suggested retail price of $129.99 (U.S.).

Even if you’re not a car audio connoisseur, it’s easy to be impressed with a car stereo speaker while looking around in an expo or convention. They’re the first thing you’ll probably notice, they come in different colors, shapes and sizes. Those big throbbing concaves blaring incredibly low bass lines or cool little tweeters whistling out seething treble sounds.

Car stereo speakers are interesting and very tempting to buy, especially the big loud ones. But big is not always the best. Each speaker has its own unique quality, intended use and price range. Some may also be better than others at certain things so it pays to investigate your type of car stereo amplifier or head unit before you finally decide on a car stereo speaker for your system. Here are some features to consider:

Car stereo speakers are not all the same size and wattage, and this can cause a problem once you try to hook it up in your car. Know the specs of your system. Sort this out ahead of time, it will save you a lot of hassle. You will be happier with your new acquisition if you can get to see it in action as soon as possible.

There are also a lot of car stereo amplifiers on the market, it pays to be aware of how the car stereo speaker you are considering compares to the others, and how compatible it is to your amplifier or the amplifier you’re planning to buy. Car stereo speakers and amplifiers go hand in hand. You’ll want the car stereo speakers you buy to be suitable for your automotive entertainment needs and not strain the system.

Style can be an important factor when choosing your special car stereo speakers. You’ll want the one you choose to fit in perfectly with your other all sorts of stereo speakers. If you’re planning to install something different, you have to take into consideration the modifications your going to have to make in order to accommodate your new car stereo speakers.

One of the biggest issues in buying a new type of car stereo speaker is suitability. How suitable your car stereo speakers are is probably the biggest issue. Don’t forget the reason you’re buying the type of car stereo amplifier in the first place, and ensure that the all sorts of stereo speakers you are looking at will do the job you need no matter what other fancy features they may offer.

Brand is an important consideration when you are shopping for a car stereo speaker. The fact is, one brand of type of car stereo amplifier may have a much better reputation than another, and for good reason. You be the judge. Do your research. Ask car audio enthusiasts. Read magazines and reviews. Do you want to take a chance on just any car stereo speakers, or go for the proven name brand?

Lastly, price is important even if you think it’s not. After all, would you want to pay more for your car stereo speakers only to find it cheaper the next day at a different store? Nobody likes that. When shopping for better car stereo speakers, it pays to check at least a couple of different stores, just to make sure you’re getting your car stereo speakers at the best price.

The much-maligned “home theater in a box” (HTiB) category has had a tough time shaking its “Home Theater for Dummies” reputation, perceived as putting value and convenience above all else, including performance. And while the Panasonic SC-BT200 Blu-ray Theater was quick and painless to install and the overall value is tremendous, at some point during my demos I realized that tucked away in the carton between the molded Styrofoam and bags of accessories, there were some major audio features and solid performance.

Look a little deeper and you’ll find that the SC-BT200 packs some pretty high-end video guts for a “lifestyle” product, especially one so affordable. Panasonic has a great big building in Southern California (I’ve been there) where guys in labcoats are dedicated to keeping the company at least slightly ahead of their time, with some of the most consistently put-your-eyeballs-back-in-your-head picture quality.

Thanks to breakthroughs like the PHL (Panasonic Hollywood Labs) Reference Chroma Processor Plus and P4HD (Pixel Precision Progressive Processing for HD), Panasonic Blu-ray players can keep up with the best of them with high quality DVD upconversion and breathtaking Blu-ray image quality. Features such as high-precision 4:4:4 color output, 1080/24p Playback for Blu-ray Discs and DVDs (if supported by both software and display) and Deep Color support are things you rarely see in mid- to high-end standalone Blu-ray players, let alone packaged HTiB systems.

Turn-Ons:

* Don’t be fooled by the small speakers: They pump out BIG sound.
* Convenient audio inputs for additional sources, but…

Turn-Offs:

* …No video inputs beyond the iPod dock
* While impressive, video quality lacks the “wow” factor of other recent Panasonic standalone Blu-ray offerings

Final Thoughts

The video was definitely respectable, but with Panasonic’s Hollywood pedigree, I was certainly not expecting the audio to exceed it, especially with those microspeakers and that bargain pricetag. But the SC-BT200 rocks, and can turn an LCD or plasma into a full-blown home theater, in minutes.
